Table Service, Orfèvre Hollow Handle
Table service designed by Gio Ponti
Satin finishing is a finish that acts on the outer layer of the object, giving it a different kind of texture. The method used, quite similar to polishing, consists of passing the objects under a special abrasive brush that makes the surface uniform and gives it a delicate opacity.
The knife with hollow orfèvre handle is typical of the finest cutlery collections. The blade is bonded to the handle by inserting a special cement paste filling that gives the knife an optimal balance. This is an artisanal process that still takes place entirely by hand.
