Tile Decor 16 - Gio Ponti L'Infinito Blu
Blu Ponti is the Gio Ponti ceramic tile collection painted entirely by hand by the master decorators of Ceramica Francesco De Maio.
11 out of 30 blue and white tiles are reproduced today according to the original design created by Gio Ponti between 1960 and 1962 for the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Sorrento, the first design hotel in the world.
Gio Ponti, a proponent of industrial design and a great admirer of craftsmanship, loved to visit Salerno and the former Ceramica D'Agostino in the late 1950s and early 1970s. Here he studied the renewal of the language of ceramics and, emphasising the territorial context through colours and geometric and naturalistic traits, he designed these famous tiles, which today Ceramica Francesco De Maio re-proposes to unite craftsmanship, territoriality and design in an all-Italian way.
