Gio Ponti, a proponent of industrial design and a great craftsman in the late 1950s and early 1970s, loved to visit Salerno and the former Ceramica D'Agostino. Here he studied the renewal of the language of ceramics and emphasized the territorial context through colors and geometric and naturalistic traits, and created the famous "Blu Ponti" majolica, which today the Ceramica Francesco De Maio proposes to combine craftsmanship, territoriality and design in an all Italian.

There are 11 out of 30 white and blue decorations that are reproduced today according to the original design by Gio Ponti between 1960 and 1962 for Hotel Parco dei Principi di Sorrento, the first design hotel in the world.
