The ceramics designed by Gio Ponti for Richard-Ginori are well known to collectors and scholars of design all over the world. Their aesthetic qualities, derived from the originality of Ponti’s inventions and the impeccable execution, have often been praised, but in the past no one has attempted to conduct a systematic study of the entire corpus of works in the Doccia Museum Collections. This book, with its extensive catalogue entries proposes to do just that. The book was born from a doctoral thesis and is the result of a meticulous study of the ceramics themselves along with the various documentary sources that were available: the signed letters and notes written by Gio Ponti, designs, catalogues, registers, price lists, magazines of the era. On the basis of objective data, we have reconstructed the exact chronology of most of the shapes and decorations, we have checked out the attributions and, for each individual piece, we have researched the iconography of the rich and fascinating world created for the art pottery of Doccia in Ponti’s era.• Bilingual text, Italian and English
• A chronological order for the decorations and the shapes which up to now had been missing
• A description of the decorative technique,

• An in-depth study of the marks and on the entity of the archival material
• A selection of the signed letters
• An update of the attributions of the various works
• A section dedicated to the sculptors who collaborated with Richard-Ginori during the decade in which Ponti was the artistic director
